HONOR A VETERAN
The Skiatook Chamber of Commerce Presents FLAGS OF HONOR - We would like to invite you to attend a ceremony on November 11, 2014 at the Osage Gardens Cemetery, 3499 West Rogers Blvd., 9:00 am, where we will unveil the flags honoring our Veterans for the first time. We will also fly a flag that was flown on the Capital Building in Washington DC for “unknown soldiers.” We are pleased that so many of you have chosen to honor your loved ones with the contribution you made of a flag to be displayed on this special day.
We would like to offer family members of deceased veterans the opportunity to purchase a 3x5 foot flag, at a $100.00 per veteran which includes all supplies, installation, and maintenance.
Each Flag comes with a 10-foot metal pole and small metal tag that includes the deceased veteran name and other pertinent information engraved on it.
All flags will be flown twice each year – Memorial Day and Veterans Day. The flags will be placed in a circle around the pavement at the main entrance.
Additional Partners: Local VFW, American Legion Post, Local Scouts. Also, Scouts will put up the flag and take the flag down. Scouts will receive a special scout badge for participation.
Family members will be able to purchase flags to honor veterans who are buried elsewhere. This will give Skiatook residents whose parents or other relatives may be buried far away an opportunity to more frequently pay their respects. They can come to Skiatook Osage Garden Cemetery and honor their loved one.
